Bradley, thanks for posting the update and the pictures. You are in our prayers and we pray that it is only a short while before you will be visiting Newbern and all your friends and family! Tell your parents that someone was mowing their yard this weekend, and that we would be glad to do that or to do anything else around here that could help them out. My cell is 731-676-0700 if they would like for us to take care of something. We are happy to do that!

Hey Bradley and Marissa!I am so thankful a friend of mine had read an article about you guys and called me and let me know. I am a cancer survivor! I was diagnosised with malignant melanoma- STAGE 4 that had metatisized to my liver. The doctors gave me grim hope, giving me the sad news that I had 3-6 months to live with aggressive therapy. That was 14 years ago!!! In one of your posts you say "winning the battle with cancer is 80% mental". I could not agree with you more. From the start, I made up my mind I was going to beat cancer. I am not going to go into great detail about me, for I am interested in you and what you are going through. You are an inspiration to me.You have such a great attitude and determination, evidence that you too are going to win this battle and be a great inspiration to others in the future.Hang in there, I KNOW that some days are RUFF!, BUT THERE IS NOTHING MORE POWERFUL THAN THE POWER OF PRAYER! I will, along with others , keep you and your family in our prayers. You are a lving witness so believe GOD is going to use you in a mighty way!!! Thanks for taking the time to read this. Katt

Hey guys! I hope you are doing well this week. We have had a nice break from the humidity the past couple days, I hope you have too.

Owen is going to his first movie tomorrow...The Bee Movie. They are showing it for free which is great because I'm sure that Owen will sit all of about 10 minutes :)

We got to see your house last weekend, you guys have done a TON of work! It looks fantastic!

Have a Happy 4th! I hope you can get out and do something festive.
You are always in our prayers and thoughts, stay strong, we're ready for you to get back home!
Lots of love and prayers,

May today be all you need it to be. May the peace of God and the freshness of the Holy Spirit rest in your thoughts, rule in your dreams tonight, and conquer all your fears. May God manifest himself today in ways you have never experienced. May your joys be fulfilled, your dreams be closer, and your prayers be answered. I pray that faith enters a new height for you; I pray that your territory is enlarged. I pray for peace, healing, health, happiness, prosperity, joy, true and undying love for God. I pray this for you, Bradley and Marissa.

Hope you all are doing well. Sorry I have not posted in a while, I have been busy working on getting Owen's big boy room ready. We are going to try to get him in next week. Bradley, the house looked great. I loved the floors and what a difference the floors make on the porch. I can't wait to see the new carpeting!

I thought recently of the old Willie Nelson song "You were always on my mind" and it reminds us that you and Marissa are always on ours. You are constantly in our prayers.

We believe that God, when HE uses HIS miraculous hand to heal you, will use you as an example of HIS mighty power and strength. He will use you to bring others to HIM.

Thursday you begin another round of chemo. Be tough. Grab the Lord by the hand and hang on. HE will be with you every step of the way. Continue to say your prayers as always.

We love you.

In HIS precious name,

Mom and Dad Dycus

As you begin another round of treatment, please know you continue to be held in the hearts and prayers of many people. You are not alone. May you gain strength and power knowing that Almighty God is beside you, holding you close and providing all you need for the journey. Be encouraged knowing the Lord is faithful and you are a testimony of His goodness. We love you.

Blessings & love,

Hey Bradley and Marissa! Your house is looking awesome! Mom, Gary and Nathan have been working hard on your HGTV makeover! Mom and I took Jack and had his nine month pictures made yesterday. He wore his little sailor outfit and they turned out super cute! I emailed them to you. Hope you had a good 4th of July and were able to find some fireworks. We heard them and saw a few from Stone Mountain and the dogs were going nuts all night but Jack slept right through it. Only one more day left of chemo! Thinking of you always,
Meaghan and Jack

I hope you all had a good 4th. Bradley, another round done! I bet you are relieved. We are all praying that you feel better and get your appetite back soon. Owen was scared of the fireworks and said 'Wanna go home', 'Scared', 'Loud Noise' but I can't blame him. They were really loud. I can't wait to see your house. Ash, Carol and I are going over to paint and stage it soon. When you get home it is going to be like a new house! Stay strong!

Tony Hendren said...

Bradley,
I don't know if you remember me. My name is Tony Hendren. I was one of the band directors in 1997-1998 at DCHS along with Ed Pledge and Glen Gateley. I think you would have probably been a sophomore. My wife, Amy, met your mom and dad today at Security Bank where she works. They got to talking and they were telling her about your cancer. I was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma in my right hand in March 2008. Mine was called Myxoinflammatory Fibroblastic Sarcoma. Pathologists in Dyersburg and Memphis had to consult with the Mayo Clinic to determine what type of cancer it was. I believe Mayo had only diagnosed and treated 6 people with this particular sarcoma. I thought at first it was a ganglion cyst, which is a very common occurence of the hand. I had an initial surgery on my hand and when we found out it was this sarcoma, had another surgery to remove marginal tissue.
My mother has had cancer, which began as breast cancer and then spread, since 2000. She goes to the West Clinic in Memphis for her treatments. They are associated with MD Anderson and collaborate on case studies and treatment options for their patients. So I decided to go there for more scans and have all my records there, in case there's a recurrance.
It's a scary thing to hear the words "malignant tumor." And I think if this had happened 10 years ago, no one would have been able to tell me what the tumor was. But my scans and blood tests and pathology slides are being used now to study this disease and hopefully be able to understand how and why it develops, to help more people.
I just wanted you to know that I am praying for you, for your strength both physically and mentally to fight this disease. I am praying for your doctors, for knowledge and guidance in their treatment choices. And I am praying for Marissa, your family and your friends, for their love and encouragement.
Keep your spirits up. I truly believe that beating cancer has as much to do with your attitude as with medicine. You can get through this!

It was good to hear the sound of your voice last week. You sounded pretty good. I'm sure you are feeling a bit different today at the end of Round Two. We had a busy week at your place and got a lot done. But have no fear, we left some for you to do when you get home. Met your Bosnian neighbor with the chickens. Nice guy. His son got a kick out of running Paddington up and down the street. Well take care and get through this week and then see how you feel. Gary

Bradley and Marissa,
YAY-round two of Chemo done!! You are both troopers and we hope you can come home now for the rest of your treatments. I am home with Jack today and Nathan has a long day at school. Jack and I are going to run some errands and I have some work I can do from home. It is blazing hot here and no ran in ages. I am watering your plants and planted two butterfly bushes yesterday (or rather Nathan planted them for me.) I hope you get the hats I sent you today and that they work out for you. We are ordering your birthday present today as well so you will probably get it early! Love,
Meaghan and Jack

We're happy that your second round of chemo is complete, but we're sure you're more happy. It was great talking to you Monday evening. You sounded much stronger at the end of this round than after the first. We believe your will is just as strong as ever. Just keep hold of God's hand and HE will lead you through. It seems that everyone we talk to has you on their church's prayer list. Keep praying and we will, too.

Love you both,

Mom and Dad Dycus

We haven't heard anything in a while but based on what we're reading, you've just finished another round of chemo. Bradley, you and Marissa are in our prayers, as well as Bill and Paula and Ms. Mary. Tonight this scripture came to my mind and is my prayer for you "I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone O God, make me dwell in safety."
